Adventures in Bioinformatics: Kat Holt
Genomic analysis of bacterial pathogens
When: 12 Noon Friday 1st September 2017
Where: The Science Place (142 - 022)
Kat Holt's lab uses genomic analysis to study the evolution and spread of bacterial pathogens, particularly antibiotic resistant organisms that cause infections in hospitals. In this talk she will share some recent findings concerning the evolution of virulence and antibiotic resistance in Klebsiella pneumoniae – which now tops the WHO list of microbes urgently requiring new antibiotics – and the bioinformatics tools and approaches that underly these advances.
JCU Bioinformatics and 'Omics Group
We're a group of bioinformaticians, biologists, ecologists, geneticists, climate scientists, computer programmers, modellers, epidemiologists, statisticians, data scientists, and [add your own label here!]. Our common interest is in the application of methods and computational tools to answer complex biological questions.
We meet twice per month and communicate via a Google Group. Please see details below to join in.
This group is open to anyone at JCU. Feel free to pass this email on to anyone you think might be interested and they can subscribe to the emails using the link above.
